Actors’ Headshots in Hertfordshire

Put yourself in the spotlight.

A headshot that looks like you

A headshot is often someone’s first introduction to you. It needs to catch their attention, but it also needs to look like the person who will walk into the audition. I want to create photographs that show your character, rather than a version of you that only exists under studio lighting.

I photograph actors and performers at Origin Studios in Flaunden, Hertfordshire. Whether these are your first headshots or you’re updating a set that no longer feels like you, we’ll talk about what you need before getting started.

Small changes, different impressions

Expression, posture, clothing and lighting all influence the way we read a face. A small change can make a photograph feel warmer, more serious or more self-assured. Finding those differences is something I really enjoy.

We’ll discuss the sort of work you’re looking for and try clothing options and expressions that make sense for you. You don’t need to arrive with a collection of practised poses. I’ll give you direction, and we’ll work together to find what feels convincing.

Time to get comfortable

Being photographed can feel surprisingly different from performing. There’s a camera pointing straight at you, and suddenly you’re wondering what your face normally does. Taking a little time to settle in and build a connection makes a real difference to the photographs.

I also photograph young performers. As with my children’s portraits, I take a patient approach and give them time to feel comfortable. The aim is a useful range of photographs that are natural and recognisably them.

A few questions you might have

We’ll talk about your acting work and what you need from the photographs before the session. I’ll guide you through position and expression, with time to settle in and try different looks. You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose.

Bring a few clothing options that feel like you and suit the work you’re looking for. Simple necklines and colours can change the feel of a headshot without taking attention away from your face. We can discuss your choices beforehand.

Yes. We can explore changes in clothing, expression and lighting to create different impressions while keeping the photographs recognisably you. Tell me what’s missing from your current headshots, or what you’d like your first set to show.

Yes. I photograph young performers with the same patient approach I bring to children’s portrait sessions. We’ll discuss what the photographs are needed for and give them time to feel at ease in front of the camera.

Please do. Send any guidance, intended uses and deadlines before booking so we can agree what’s needed. That also gives us a chance to discuss the final image formats and any particular requirements.

Get in touch with what you need and I’ll explain the session options, prices and included images before you book. We can also discuss how you’ll select the finished headshots and any additional images you might want.

Let’s plan your next headshots

Tell me about your acting work, how you’ll be using the photographs and any deadlines you’re working towards. If you’re not sure what you need, we can talk it through together.
