Remembering Dylan
We lost Dylan very suddenly in August 2026, aged eight and a half. He’d been part of our family since he was a puppy, as well as being a regular presence at the studio.
If you’ve visited over the years, there’s a reasonable chance you’ll have met him. He was considerably better at greeting clients than I am and, somewhat embarrassingly, considerably more successful on Instagram too.
He also featured in more test shots, competition ideas and lighting experiments than he ever volunteered for.
When I wrote about him in the newsletter, some of those photographs were still difficult to look at. I knew that, in time, they would become some of the most important photographs I’d ever taken.
I spend a lot of time making photographs for other people. Dylan’s photographs are a very personal reminder of why those pictures matter. They’re the expressions and the character of a dog we loved, and a record of the years we shared with him.
He’s left a big hole.
